Gem Pricing and Gem Recruiting Pricing for the Gem ATS and CRM by Company Size
Gem does not publish prices for its two main plans. Its pricing page, read on 23 October 2026, lists Gem + Your ATS and Gem All-in-One as custom pricing "based on your company's FTE count", plus a Startup Program at $130 a month billed yearly for companies with 1 to 10 employees. Buyer data from Vendr puts the median Gem contract at $25,699 a year across 234 purchases, with deals from $7,000 to $73,076. Companies under 30 employees get All-in-One free for six months and then 50% off. Per-seat price tables you will find elsewhere ($99 and $149 per user) describe plans that are no longer on Gem's page.
Gem started as a sourcing and CRM layer that in-house recruiting teams ran on top of Greenhouse or Lever: find engineers who are not job hunting, send them multi-step email sequences, and sync every touch back to the ATS. It now also sells its own applicant tracking system, so a team can either keep its ATS and add Gem, or move everything into Gem.
That change came with a new way of pricing. Gem used to sell recruiter seats at list prices that are still quoted all over the internet. Today the page prices both plans by the size of your whole company, and the only number it shows is for very small startups. This page sets the current plans beside the buyer data, says what each public figure actually measures, and works out what Gem costs by deal size, per hire and over a three-year term.

How much does Gem cost?
Gem costs a median of $25,699 a year according to Vendr, which has data from 234 Gem purchases, and most contracts land between $7,000 and $73,076. Gem itself shows no price for its two main plans, so that buyer data is the best public guide to what a quote will say. The only published figure is the Startup Program: $130 a month billed yearly, or $1,560 a year, for companies with 1 to 10 employees.
A median of $25,699 is about $2,142 a month. Vendr also reports that buyers save 20% on average against the first quote, so a deal that closes at the median probably started near $32,300. Treat that as an estimate built from two Vendr numbers, not a list price, but it is a useful anchor: if your first quote is well above $32,000 for a company under a few hundred people, there is room to negotiate.
The median has also moved. Pin, a competing sourcing tool, quoted Vendr earlier in 2026 at $24,900 across 218 purchases with a top deal of $70,955. Sixteen purchases later the median is $799 higher, up 3.2%, and the top of the range is $73,076.
Is Gem priced per seat or per employee?
Both plans are now priced by your company's full-time employee count, with two seat types deciding who gets which features. The pricing page says custom pricing is "based on your company's FTE count". Seats still exist, but they are a Standard seat and an AI-Powered seat, and Gem does not attach a price to either one.
This is the detail most pricing guides miss. Several of them still print a per-user table with Gem Essentials at $99 per user a month for up to 3 users and Gem Professional at $149 for up to 10, then multiply it out: $3,564 a year for three seats, $17,880 for ten. Those plan names and prices are not on Gem's page today. For a ten-person recruiting team inside a 400-person company, the meter on the quote is the 400, not the 10.
Two practical consequences follow. A small recruiting team in a large company pays more than a seat table suggests, and a large team in a small company pays less. Hiring managers do not need a seat to see the Talent Pipeline view and basic pipeline metrics, so you are not paying for viewers.
What the Gem plans include
Gem + Your ATS is the sourcing and outreach layer; Gem All-in-One adds Gem's own applicant tracking, analytics and scheduling in one contract. Both are custom priced.
| Plan | Price shown | Core of the plan | Extra cost or condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gem + Your ATS | Custom, by FTE count | AI sourcing across 800M+ profiles, AI ranking of your candidate database, multi-channel outreach sequences, unlimited email finding | Scheduling, the AI Fraud Detection Agent and Analytics listed as add what you need |
| Gem All-in-One | Custom, by FTE count | Sourcing and CRM, applicant tracking, analytics, interview scheduling | Interviewer load balancing, advanced capacity management and cross-team scheduling are add-ons |
| Gem Startup Program | $130 a month billed yearly | AI sourcing and CRM, analytics, scheduling and ATS | 1 to 10 employees only |
Gem's own announcement of the restructure says it cut the number of license types to two and folded its AI agents into the AI-Powered seat instead of billing them separately, and that pricing has no implementation or service fees. That is worth getting in writing, because implementation is a real line item for most enterprise ATS contracts.
Gem cost by contract size
Across Vendr's Gem deals, the smallest contract is $7,000 a year, the median $25,699 and the largest $73,076, which is 10.4 times the smallest. Where you land depends mostly on headcount and on whether you buy the sourcing layer alone or the whole platform.
| Point in Vendr's data | A year | A month | Per hire at 20 hires | Per hire at 50 hires | Per hire at 100 hires |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lowest deal | $7,000 | $583 | $350 | $140 | $70 |
| Median | $25,699 | $2,142 | $1,285 | $514 | $257 |
| Highest deal | $73,076 | $6,090 | $3,654 | $1,462 | $731 |
Software cost only, before job board spend and recruiter time. Per hire is the honest way to judge a sourcing tool: a team that makes 100 hires a year pays $257 each at the median, while a team that makes 20 pays $1,285 each for the same contract. If your hiring plan has been cut since the last renewal, divide the renewal quote by next year's hires, not last year's.
Gem pricing for startups
Gem has three startup routes: a $130 a month plan for 1 to 10 employees, All-in-One free for six months and then 50% off for companies under 30, and reduced rates with no sales call for companies of 30 to 100.
The arithmetic is simple. The 1 to 10 plan is $1,560 a year. Gem's page shows $270 struck through beside the $130, and Pin earlier reported the startup tier at $270 a month on annual billing, so the plan is currently sold at about half of that earlier price. For the under-30 offer, six free months followed by six months at half price means the first 12 months cost a quarter of the annual rate you are quoted. The catch is month 13: the discount is on moving to a paid plan, so ask in writing what the full rate will be in year two before you build your pipeline inside the tool.
What Gem costs over three years
At the $25,699 median, a three-year Gem term costs $79,433 with a 3% annual increase and $82,620 with 7%. Vendr reports renewal escalators of 3% to 7% on Gem deals and says buyers should negotiate a cap.
| Escalator | Year 1 | Year 2 | Year 3 | Three-year total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3% a year | $25,699 | $26,470 | $27,264 | $79,433 |
| 7% a year | $25,699 | $27,498 | $29,423 | $82,620 |
The gap between the two rows is $3,187 over the term, which is the value of getting the cap written into the order form. Vendr also lists the usual levers on Gem deals: volume discounts from 20 seats and deeper from 50, lower rates on two and three year terms, a discount for paying the year up front, and competing quotes from Ashby, Lever and Greenhouse.
Is Gem worth it?
Gem is worth it for a recruiting team that fills hard technical or senior roles through outbound sourcing and already spends heavily on LinkedIn Recruiter seats or a separate CRM. Gem says teams consolidating several point tools typically save 60 to 70%, which is a vendor claim, but the logic holds: one contract replacing a CRM, a sequencing tool and a scheduling tool is easier to justify than a fourth tool on top.
It is a weaker buy for teams that fill most roles from inbound applicants, and for companies with a high headcount and a small hiring plan, because the FTE meter charges for employees you are not hiring. If your problem is applicant volume rather than reach, compare it with a published-price system first: our Ashby pricing page covers the startup tier, and Greenhouse pricing covers the ATS most Gem customers already run. Our Gem vs Greenhouse comparison works out what keeping both costs against moving to one. If you are weighing a quote-only system built around careers sites instead, see Pinpoint pricing, where the Vendr median is $27,000 a year.
How to get inbound remote applicants alongside Gem
Post the remote role where remote candidates already look, and keep Gem for the people who are not looking. Outbound sequences reach engineers who are happy where they are; a listing reaches the ones who are actively searching for a remote job this week. Most teams need both, and the listing is the cheap half.
A listing on our board costs $199 a month for one live remote role, or $99 a month billed yearly, bought on the site with no sales call. That is $2,388 a year at the monthly price, about 9% of the Gem median. Applications come to you directly. Our Enterprise plan pushes candidates automatically into Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby; it does not push into Gem's ATS, so on Gem All-in-One the handoff is manual. If you are still choosing tools, see Lever pricing for the mid-market alternative and our cost per hire calculator to put the software line next to everything else a hire costs.
Questions buyers ask about Gem pricing
- How much does Gem cost per year?
- Vendr's data from 234 Gem purchases puts the median at $25,699 a year, with deals from $7,000 to $73,076. Gem publishes no price for its two main plans; the only listed figure is the Startup Program at $130 a month billed yearly for 1 to 10 employees.
- Does Gem have a free plan?
- Not as a permanent tier. Companies under 30 employees get Gem All-in-One free for six months and then 50% off when they move to a paid plan. Companies of 30 to 100 get reduced rates without a sales call.
- Is Gem priced per user?
- Not any more on its own pricing page. Both custom plans are priced by company FTE count, and the two seat types, Standard and AI-Powered, decide which features each user gets. Per-user tables at $99 and $149 describe older plans.
- Does Gem replace Greenhouse?
- It can. Gem All-in-One includes Gem's own applicant tracking system, so a team can move off Greenhouse. Gem + Your ATS is the other option, which keeps Greenhouse and syncs Gem's sourcing and outreach into it.
- Are there implementation fees with Gem?
- Gem says its restructured pricing is all-inclusive with no implementation or service fees. Get that written into the order form, along with the renewal increase cap, because Vendr reports 3% to 7% escalators on Gem renewals.
- How do I get a better price on Gem?
- Vendr reports buyers save about 20% on average. The levers it lists are volume from 20 and 50 seats, two or three year terms, paying annually up front, and competing quotes from Ashby, Lever or Greenhouse. Ask for the FTE count used on the quote and check it matches your real headcount.
