ZipRecruiter Pricing 2026: Cost Per Month for Employers, and How Much ZipRecruiter Costs to Post a Job
ZipRecruiter does not publish a rate card, so the most reliable answer comes from its own financial filings rather than its pricing page. In the Q2 2026 shareholder letter filed with the SEC, ZipRecruiter reported $118.1 million of revenue from 70,721 Quarterly Paid Employers, which is $1,669 per paying employer for the quarter, or roughly $556 a month. That number has fallen three quarters running: $1,889 in Q4 2025, $1,698 in Q1 2026, $1,669 in Q2 2026. Individual quotes are reported to run about $299 to $399 per job slot per month at the Standard tier, $419 to $519 at Premium and $719 to $999 at Pro, with daily plans from around $24. Every employer is quoted separately on industry, location, company size and hiring volume, so two companies posting the same job can pay very different amounts.

Searching for ZipRecruiter pricing is frustrating because there is nothing to find. ZipRecruiter has never published an employer rate card. You get a quote after you give a sales team your company details, and the number you get is not the number the company down the street gets.
So this page does it the other way around. ZipRecruiter is a public company, and it reports exactly how much revenue it collects and exactly how many employers pay it. Divide one by the other and you have the real average spend, published by ZipRecruiter itself, under securities law. That is the first table below. After it come the plan tiers as employers and review sites report them, what the trial actually covers, the costs that sit outside the subscription, and how the whole thing compares with posting the same role somewhere else.
What ZipRecruiter costs against the other places you can post the same role
| Pricing model | Entry cost | Typical real spend | Predictable? | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ZipRecruiter | Custom-quoted monthly slot per job | Reported from about $24 per day | $1,669 per quarter per paying employer, about $556 a month (ZipRecruiter Q2 2026 SEC filing) | Yes, once quoted |
| Indeed | Pay per click auction, plus a free tier | $5 per day or $150 per month minimum | $15 to $50 per application, reported | No, spend moves with competition |
| Free single post, or promoted, or job slots | Promoted from about $7 to $10 per day | Job Slots reported $200 to $1,000 per slot per month | Slots yes, promoted no | |
| Monster | Subscription tiers | Reported from about $8 per day | Reported up to about $649 per month | Yes |
| Dice (tech only) | Subscription | No public rate card | Reported about $395 to $1,500 per month | Yes |
| We Work Remotely | Flat fee per listing | $299 per listing | $299, published | Yes |
| Latestremote | Flat fee per listing | $299 for 30 days | $299, published, no commission on the hire | Yes |
ZipRecruiter cost against the main alternatives for a single role. Indeed figures are from Indeed's own pricing page, verified August 2026. ZipRecruiter, LinkedIn and Dice figures are reported by employers and review sites, because none of those three publishes a full rate card. Monster does publish one, so its figures are taken from it. We Work Remotely, Remotive and Latestremote publish theirs.

What ZipRecruiter actually costs, according to ZipRecruiter
The average paying ZipRecruiter employer spent $1,669 in the second quarter of 2026, which is about $556 a month. That is not an estimate from a review site. ZipRecruiter publishes Revenue per Paid Employer as a headline operating metric in every quarterly shareholder letter it files with the SEC, and it is simply total revenue divided by the number of employers who paid in that quarter.
| Quarter | Revenue | Quarterly Paid Employers | Revenue per Paid Employer | Per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Q4 2025 | $111.7 million | 59,100 | $1,889 | about $630 |
| Q1 2026 | $107.5 million | 63,329 | $1,698 | about $566 |
| Q2 2026 | $118.1 million | 70,721 | $1,669 | about $556 |
Two things are worth reading carefully before you use that number as your own budget. First, it is a mean, and it is pulled in both directions: ZipRecruiter defines a Paid Employer as any actively recruiting employer on a paying subscription or performance marketing campaign for at least one day, so a business that spent $80 on a two-day test sits in the same average as an enterprise account spending five figures a quarter. A small company hiring for one role will almost always come in under $556 a month; a staffing firm running ten slots will be far above it.
Second, the direction of travel is informative. Revenue per Paid Employer has declined for three consecutive quarters while the employer count has grown 20% since Q4 2025, from 59,100 to 70,721. ZipRecruiter attributes the Q2 decline to the influx of new employers who only paid for part of the quarter. Read commercially, that is a platform adding a lot of smaller, shorter-duration accounts, which is exactly the segment most likely to be testing a cheaper entry plan.
ZipRecruiter pricing plans and what each tier includes
ZipRecruiter sells access as a monthly subscription tied to job slots rather than as a one-off listing fee. A slot is a seat you can put a job in, and you can usually swap which job occupies it. The tier names are consistent across employer reports; the prices are not, because they are quoted individually. Treat the ranges below as reported rather than quoted.
| Tier | Reported cost per slot per month | What employers report getting |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $299 to $399 | One job slot, distribution to ZipRecruiter's partner network, basic candidate matching and applicant management |
| Premium | $419 to $519 | Standard plus wider candidate matching, more resume database access and higher placement in candidate alerts |
| Pro | $719 to $999 | Premium plus larger resume search allowances, multiple slots and account support |
| Daily plans | From about $24 per day | Short-run access, useful for a single urgent role |
| TrafficBoost credits | About $300 to $500 per credit | Extra promotion for one listing, bought on top of the plan |
The practical shape of this is that a small business hiring for one role lands in the Standard band and pays somewhere around $299 to $399 a month for as long as the slot is open, while anyone hiring at volume moves to Pro and multiple slots. The comparison that matters is not tier against tier, it is subscription against listing: a flat-fee board charges once for a fixed window, and a slot charges every month the role stays open. A search that takes 90 days costs three times as much on a slot and the same on a flat fee.
Why ZipRecruiter will not quote you a price up front
ZipRecruiter quotes each employer individually on industry, location, company size and hiring volume. There is a straightforward commercial logic to it, and it is not unique to ZipRecruiter: Dice does the same, and LinkedIn does it for anything above a single free post, as the breakdown of LinkedIn job posting cost shows. Custom quoting lets a vendor charge a hospital network hiring 400 nurses a year differently from a five-person agency hiring one designer, and it stops competitors from undercutting a published number.
What it means for you is that the price you see quoted in any article, including this one, is a report of what other employers were charged and not an offer. Three things reliably move your quote. Competition for the title in your metro moves it most: the same role in San Francisco and in Toledo are different products to sell. Volume and term move it next, and annual commitments are discounted against month-to-month. Whether you are a new or returning account moves it too, and first-year promotional pricing is common.
Practically: ask for the month-to-month rate as well as the annual one, ask what happens to the rate at renewal, and ask whether unused slots roll over. If you are comparing against a flat-fee board, the number you want is total cost to fill the role, not cost per month. Our cost to post a job page runs that comparison across ten boards.
Is ZipRecruiter free, and what does the trial actually cover?
ZipRecruiter has no free posting tier for employers. This is the clearest difference between it and Indeed, which does let you post free subject to usage limits and quality rules. On ZipRecruiter the only way to post without paying is the trial, and the trial is short and conditional.
Employers report a trial of roughly two to four days rather than the month-long trials common in software. The details employers most often get caught by: a credit card is required to start, the clock starts when your first job goes live rather than when you create the account, the trial usually covers one listing rather than unlimited posting, and the account converts to a paid subscription automatically if you do not cancel in the dashboard first. ZipRecruiter's own SEC definition of a Paid Employer explicitly excludes employers on free trial, which confirms the trial and the paid plan are separate states.
A short trial is genuinely useful for one thing: seeing the volume and relevance of candidates ZipRecruiter's matching sends for your specific title before you commit to a month. Post the real job, not a test job, or you learn nothing. Then set a calendar reminder for the day before the trial ends, because there is no reminder email.
The costs that sit outside the ZipRecruiter subscription
The subscription is the visible number. Three others decide what the hire really costs you.
Promotion on top of the plan. TrafficBoost credits are reported at roughly $300 to $500 each and buy extra distribution for one listing. On a Standard slot, one credit can cost more than the slot itself, so a role that needs boosting to perform is quietly a $700 to $900 month.
The slot keeps billing while the role is open. This is the cost employers underestimate most. Median time to fill in 2026 is about 39 days for a nonexecutive role according to SHRM, and Ashby puts technical roles at 75 days to first fill. A slot at $349 a month costs about $460 across a 39-day search and about $875 across a 75-day one. A flat $299 listing costs $299 either way.
Screening time. Whatever board you use, someone reads the applications, and that is usually the largest real cost in the whole process. At 300 applications and six minutes each, that is 30 hours of somebody's week. We work that arithmetic through properly in how many applicants a job posting gets, and it is the reason applicant quality beats applicant volume on almost every budget.
Add those to the subscription and compare against total cost per hire rather than cost per month. Our breakdown of cost per hire benchmarks puts the job board line item in the context of everything else you spend to fill a seat.
When ZipRecruiter is worth the money, and when it is not
ZipRecruiter earns its price when you need candidates found for you. Its matching engine pushes your listing out to people in its database who fit the title, rather than waiting for someone to search. If you are hiring for a role with a shallow inbound market, in a metro where the talent exists but is not job hunting, that outbound push is worth paying for and a passive board will not replicate it.
It is a poor fit in three situations. If the role is fully remote, ZipRecruiter's geographic matching is working against you, because the whole advantage of a remote role is that location stops being a filter, and you will pay for reach into metros that do not matter. If you are hiring one role, once, a monthly slot is a subscription for a one-off need. And if your problem is too many irrelevant applications rather than too few, buying wider distribution makes the problem worse.
For a fully-remote role specifically, a remote-only board is the closer match on audience and the cheaper option on arithmetic. Everyone reading it already wants remote work, so you are not paying to reach people who will drop out when they learn the role is not hybrid. On this board a listing is a flat $299 for 30 days, every listing has to show a salary range, and there is no commission on the hire. If you want the full field before deciding, Indeed alternatives for employers compares nine sites side by side, and ZipRecruiter vs Indeed for employers is the head-to-head if those two are your shortlist. Our own rates are on the remote job posting pricing page and how employers hire remote workers covers the process end to end.
Questions employers ask about ZipRecruiter pricing
- How much does ZipRecruiter cost?
- ZipRecruiter publishes no rate card, but its own Q2 2026 SEC filing reports $118.1 million of revenue from 70,721 paying employers, which is $1,669 per employer for the quarter or about $556 a month. Individual quotes are reported at $299 to $399 per slot per month at Standard, rising to $719 to $999 at Pro.
- How much does ZipRecruiter cost per month?

Across all paying employers, ZipRecruiter's Q2 2026 filing works out to about $556 per month. Your quote depends on your industry, metro, company size and hiring volume.
- Is ZipRecruiter free for employers?
- No. ZipRecruiter has no free posting tier for employers, unlike Indeed, which allows free posts subject to usage limits. The only unpaid route is a trial that employers report lasting roughly two to four days, requires a credit card, starts when your first job goes live, and converts to a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel.
- How much does ZipRecruiter cost to post a job?
- You do not buy a single post. ZipRecruiter sells monthly job slots, so one role costs the slot rate for every month the search runs. - Does ZipRecruiter charge a fee per hire?
- No. ZipRecruiter charges a subscription for access and does not take a placement fee or commission when you hire someone, which is the main way it differs from a staffing agency charging 15% to 25% of first-year salary. The costs to watch are the recurring monthly slot and TrafficBoost credits, reported at about $300 to $500 each.
- How much does ZipRecruiter cost for a small business?
- Small businesses hiring for one role typically land on the Standard tier at a reported $299 to $399 per slot per month, or a daily plan from about $24 per day.
